William

It was exciting and scary. Just after take off, I looked down and felt a little frightened by the idea of me being so high. Being in the air was a real experience. I have never been in a plane before. Now I have had the chance to achieve my target, I'm now more ambitious in my goals.

Casey’s speeding towards success at Community-Ed

“Students thrive at this school” & “Attendance is something this school should be proud of”

Two quotes from our very recent Ofsted inspection and something that we are very proud of.

Meet Casey, a student who before coming to us struggled with his attendance, as well as managing his behaviour. He spent almost a year out of school before coming to us, but was desperate for a school to believe in him and see his potential. Casey started with us in October 2023 and since then he has achieved a phenomenal 99% attendance. Casey has worked hard with maintaining his excellent attendance as well as engaging with learning in school and managing his behaviour.

Due to his excellent commitment to his attendance and his improved behaviour, he was awarded with an activity that he has wanted to do for quite some time. Casey had the chance to go Go-Karting at Ellough Park Race Circuit in Beccles. He was give three, 15 minutes races and with each race topped his personal best, ending with an awesome lap time of 59.91 seconds. Casey was very excited to go but managed his behaviour well and was a great ambassador for the school.

We are always pleased to support our students in this individual way and recognise when they are reaching their own goals. At Community-Ed Academy we know that all of our students are on their own path and we do not compare one students goals to another.

We hope this will inspire Casey to continue to work hard and strive for greatness. Casey has said he will definitely be working for more Go-Karting time and that is something we are happy to support.

Great Racing Casey and keep up that good work. Who knows, we could be looking at the next Lewis Hamilton!

At Community-Ed, we recognise that personal development encompasses a wide range of aspects essential for the growth and success of our young people. We are dedicated to nurturing our students' self-esteem and self-worth, understanding that these qualities are fundamental to their ability to achieve their full potential. Our approach involves providing opportunities for students to explore new experiences and push their boundaries, which is a critical element in their developmental journey.

Personal development is not just about academic achievements; it is also about building character, resilience, and a positive self-image. We strive to create an environment where students feel valued and supported, enabling them to develop a strong sense of identity and purpose. By encouraging our students to set personal goals, we help them learn the importance of perseverance, dedication, and hard work.

One shining example of our commitment to personal development is William, who has been diligently working towards his personal goals and targets in school over the past term. His exceptional effort and consistent dedication have been truly commendable. As a reward for his hard work, William was given the opportunity to experience a flight in a plane.

William embarked on his aerial adventure with pilot Gary Taylor from Mid Anglia Aviation. Despite the cloudy skies and the possibility of rain, William's enthusiasm remained high, and he was eager to take to the skies. He enjoyed a 30-minute flight, cruising over Beccles and Lowestoft, with breathtaking views of Africa Alive and Pleasurewood Hills.

At Community-Ed, we believe that recognising and celebrating achievements is crucial. It not only motivates the individual student but also inspires their peers to strive for their goals. By acknowledging William's accomplishments, we reinforce the value of hard work and perseverance.

It is important for students to have clear, achievable goals and a structured path to reach them. When these goals are attained, celebrating their success reinforces the positive behaviours and efforts that led to their achievement. We are genuinely excited to see what new challenges William will set for himself and how he will achieve them.

Through our comprehensive approach to personal development, we aim to equip our students with the skills and confidence they need to navigate their futures successfully. We are committed to supporting each young person on their unique journey, ensuring they have the tools to build a bright and fulfilling future.

Brothers in Arms Initiative

At Community-Ed Academy, we believe that every young person has the potential to grow, achieve, and thrive when given the right support and guidance. In our small provision, we are committed to fostering personal development through tailored programmes and activities that address the unique needs of each student. We focus on helping students set meaningful goals and work towards them, encouraging self-discipline, resilience, and collaboration.

One example of our approach is the "Brothers in Arms" initiative. This programme was designed by these students key worker to motivate and inspire the students, to not only meet individual behavioural goals but also work together as a team. These Students of different year groups were given the opportunity to bond, support each other, and strive towards a common reward.

William, Edward and Riley undertook the programme, each with their own goals of achieving 100% attendance, treating others with respect and demonstrating excellent listening.

The students were encouraged to manage their behaviour to the highest standards, with the reward of a special group activity of bowling and pool if they were successful in demonstrating discipline, focus, and mutual respect. This initiative highlights our "out-of-the-box" thinking, where we use creative, engaging methods to help students stay motivated and feel empowered in their development journey.

Check out these great pictures of our Brothers in Arms, celebrating their achievements with a well-earned reward. Beyond just a fun activity, this experience provided a valuable opportunity for the students to bond, support, and encourage each other in a real-world setting. By working together and reaching their goals, they not only earned this reward but also developed crucial skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership. These moments of shared success are key learning tools, helping to strengthen relationships and build confidence for future challenges.
